CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR
SOFTBALL TEAM FOR BEING ONE OF THE BEST FOUR TEAMS AND MAKING IT TO THE
SEMI- FINALS IN THE SOFTBALL TOURNAMENT!

It is time to apply for
the Robert J. Cavanaugh - Millwright Local 740 Scholarship.
To do this you will need to contact the New York City District
Council of Carpenters Benefit Funds
(212-366-7300 ext.7584)
to request an application for the Charles Johnson Memorial Scholarship.
You should do this the first week in September of your child's senior
year of high school. You will need to meet all the requirements of that
scholarship.
Please keep in mind that the winners are not chosen solely on their
scholastic achievements. They are also measured on their community
service, their participation in other school activities as well as after
school activities. This is all done by an independent agency.
As in the past the member must be in good standing at the time of the
award.
This will be a once in a lifetime award to a graduating high school
student going to college for the first time.
The award will go to the applicant from Millwright Local 740 that
scores the highest on the Charles Johnson Scholarship, regardless of
their placement for that scholarship.
Our scholarship is available to the dependant children of members.
Proof of dependency may be required prior to the award.
The awarding of the scholarship, as well as adding the winning
child’s name to the scholarship plaque, will be done in July 2008.
If you have any questions please call the office.
